GLOSTREAM, INC. MEDICAL ADVISOR TO OFFER E-SESSION ON CHALLENGES AND BENEFITS OF HOSPITAL-PHYSICIAN EMR ADOPTION AT HIMSS CONFERENCE

Dr. John Samani’s E-Session to Highlight Strategies for Effective and Mutually Beneficial Integration Between Hospital and Physician-Practice EMR Systems to Promote Improved Care

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (February 19, 2008) - gloStream, Inc. (gloStream) of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., an electronic medical records (EMR) software and practice management solutions provider serving healthcare facilities nationwide, announced today that Dr. John Samani, founder and senior partner of the Michigan Knee and Shoulder Institute and medical advisor to gloStream, will offer an e-session entitled, “Challenges and Opportunities of EMR Adoption and Use for Hospitals and Physician Practices” at the upcoming 2008 Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference. The onference will be held February 24 through February 28, 2008 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Dr. Samani’s e-session will highlight strategies for effective and mutually beneficial integration between hospital and physician-practice EMR systems to promote improved patient care across both entities. The e-session will also underscore the value of using EMR systems certified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) to ensure interoperability and data sharing among hospital and physician-practice EMR systems.

“EMR systems hold great promise to positively transform the U.S. healthcare industry by improving patient care and lowering healthcare costs,” said Dr. Samani. “This e-presentation will demonstrate that it is CCHIT and other EMR interoperability standards, not standardization in EMR functionality, that does the most to promote increased hospital-physician information-
sharing and improved patient care. In addition, this e-session will help hospital executives and others appreciate the benefits and challenges associated with the use of EMR systems in hospitals and physician practices, and offer best practices in integration, to foster increased EMR adoption across both entities.”

At the conclusion of Dr. Samani’s presentation, attendees will be able to identify challenges physician practices and hospitals face in effectively integrating EMR systems, understand key challenges physicians face when attempting to balance protecting business interests when providing advanced patient care, describe strategies to successfully adopt and implement an EMR system, and outline best practices for successful physician-hospital EMR integration.
